Day 113: Date Night…well sort of
For the 2nd Friday in a row, we’ve opted for dinner ala pizza. I’m thinking this is going to be our new thing since I’m back to work and we are now both exhausted by the time Friday rolls around. And it just so happened that we got two Netflix dvd’s in the mail this week. I told the hubs that if he called to order the pizza, that I would gladly pick it up. (I was in no mood to talk to anyone…I do enough talking to students all week.)
When I got back with the pie, Abby was sound asleep on her daddy’s belly…too cute. This was a little after 7:30pm. So he put her down on one of our living room chairs and we totally expected her to wake up shortly b/c she is known to take 30 minute naps in the evening before bath time. Before we knew it, we had watched one episode of Big Love, had eaten our pizza, and Abby was still asleep.
The hubs looked over at me and said that we should just put her to bed and not wake her up for bath..she only had 3 very short naps at daycare. We both thought it was the cutest thing that this was the first night we were bringing Abby upstairs to bed while she was already asleep. Don’t know why, but it’s just so darn cute. Well, she was only wearing a onesie and baby legs so we laid her on the changing table that had a sleep sack already sprawled out. We zipped her in, but left the arms out b/c we didn’t want to wake her.
She’s now soundly asleep and it’s 9pm. I wasn’t going to be able to nurse her anyways tonight b/c of the dairy…you know all the cheesy goodness on the pizza…and we were going to just give her a bottle. So we figure she’ll probably sleep a few hours or so before waking up to eat. And you know what, I don’t give a crap if I have to get up at midnight to feed her. B/c really, I think Abby just gave us our first sort of date night. Not that we got all romantic or anything, but just a quiet night over food we didn’t cook, whilst watching a dvd. We don’t have family around or any close friends, so we really don’t get out much by ourselves…never really. But I really like this idea of date night in with a sleeping Abby…it’s like the best of both worlds. I’m sure there will come a time when we will go out for a date night…which really will more be about us going to see a band play cause that’s what we do….but for now, these family quiet nights are precious. It’s a great way to end my second week as a working momma.

That’s a perfect Friday night in my opinion! Way to make it through week one of daycare!!!
Sounds perfect! That kind of night beats a regular night out any time!
enjoy your weekend!
That sounds like a wonderful night. I love when Turtle goes to bed and we just get to hang out. It’s so nice.
Enjoy your weekend!
That sounds like a great night! What a great start to the weekend!
I think it’s cool she stayed asleep on the chair. She must have been pretty tired. I’m glad you two got some down time, it’s nice for it to be just the two of you again for a little while, huh? As much as you love your baby, it’s always fun to be alone and relax at night.
Sounds like a lovely night. I love sofa date nights
Stopping by to welcome you to SITS!

around 7 months or so C started going to bed at 730ish so we could so such a thing. And now we can even have someone come over and then head out at 730 for dinner. Or I can go out with girlfriends cause he doesnt night nurse anymore. its very liberating! enjoy the rest of your weekend.
I’m glad you had a sleeping baby for your date night… I hear babies sleeping peacefully when you WANT them to is almost unheard of
