Day 115: The War with my McFatty Body
I’m at a stalemate with my body…the one where we are staring at each other trying to figure out what the next move will be.
There’s just no time for exercise right now. Being a working teaching momma is all consuming. On the weekends I’m busy doing house stuff and doing school stuff when there is some free time. And my husband’s work is busy this time of year so he’s had to work at least one day of the weekend for the past few weeks.
So as a result, I’ve been thinking of what I can do to try to get workouts in. What I’ve decided is that since it is lighter out later and later these days (we get to a point in the PNW when it’s light out till 9pm during the summer) that if it’s also a nice day, I will take Abby for walks when I get home from work. I also think that this will help with my stress too. And if the hubs isn’t working on the weekends, we will go to the park and take Abby for longer walks.
And that is it. That is all I can wrap my brain around. I’m sure soon enough I will get into a better groove and will be able to pop in a little 30 day shred. I’m sure soon enough I will get into a better groove and be able to go for a jog. I’m sure soon enough I will get into a better groove and be able to do longer workout dvds.
I did lose 1 pound this past week…most likely a result of the breast feeding. But at a certain point…well at this point really…I need to get back into things that can help me tone up this flab in addition to continue losing weight.
But for now, I’ve decided to even take a break from my McFatty Monday weekly posts and just do it once a month since really I don’t have much time to work on this part of me. So I thought I would leave you with some numbers that we can compare in a month and see how I’m doing.
Current Weight: 166lbs (11 lbs under my 7 week pregnancy weigh in)
Current BMI: 31.4 (remember I’m a shorty)
Goal Weight: 140lbs
Goal BMI: 26.4
I will have posts on Mondays b/c this is a 365 day blog after all, but I will have to rack my brain for its content after this week.
And before this McFatty Monday post ends, I have a question for you working mommas…HOW? How do you maintain a healthy lifestyle while working? How do you teachers out there manage this? If you’ve never left a comment please please please leave one if you have an answer. I’m in dire need of some help.
…and don’t forget to check out this giveaway…

It’s just….tough.
Remember, you are JUST getting back to work & it has taken me LOTS OF MEDICATION & 4 months to feel “back in the groove.”
Here’s the one thing I am slowly learning & refusing to learn all at the same time – I cannot do everything.
I cannot paint a dining room, plant a garden, learn to sew, make baby food, grocery shop, & clean my house all in one weekend, no matter what my to-do list says.
In the same note, I cannot work 40+ hours a week at a career job, 10+ hours per week on a blog, & then log in 5-7 hours per week exercising when I have a husband, house, & six month old. It’s just not possible.
So I’ve been focusing on the eating. (& it’s why I did Nutrisystem for easy). & this week, I will TRY to get myself going with running after Harry goes to bed.
We’ll figure it out. Or learn that something has to give.
Eventually.
I’m just leaving an “you can do it comment”. I don’t have much advice I was strapped when I worked and had babies and now that I stay home I still don’t have it figured out but I do know not putting on high standards does help! Good luck and see ya next month for McFatty Monday!
I have a friend who gets up early and exercises. I think she’s certifiable. I honestly don’t know what to tell you. For a while I would go to the gym three days a week after work and Husband would pick up J. But I haven’t done that in about three months. It’s HARD!!!
I think baby walks are great but I still don’t include them enough. It’s still cold here!
I’ve found that since going back to work I just don’t have as much time to sit around and eat as I used to….which is the only time that being short on time works to my advantage!
I’m still at home (going back to teaching in the fall) but exercise is always hard to fit in. So I did a lot of my weight loss through weight watchers. Honestly, it was GREAT for me. The results happened quickly (which I guess is what happens when I stopped eating like I was still preggers!) But although I’m down to my “goal weight” I don’t feel as strong as I’d like to. So we bought the Wii and honestly some boxing a few times a week has been good for me (and an AWESOME stress reliever)! Good luck!
I am desperately trying to figure this out still and I’ve been back to work since January. But I gave myself time to get in the working momma groove before being too hard on myself for not working out. Like other people said, you can’t do it all. As much as we want to be Super Woman, it just isn’t possible.
But now that the days are getting “longer” and H Bean goes down around 7pm, I am finding that the evenings would be a perfect time to get a workout in. Will I make use of this time? I sure hope so.
Other mini work out tips: sit up straight, shoulders back, and hold in your stomach. When I hold H Bean I do squats and lunges. And we go for walks once or twice a week after work, when time allows.
Good luck momma and hang in there!
yeah i cant imgaine! its so hard, there is only so much time.
Walks are great… and continue to BF!!!
I wish I worked out, I really do. For me it’s like BA said, I’ve focused on the diet. I kinda made diet and food sources my “thing” this year and that was what’s helped me keep it in some sort of control I think. But I always wish I had more time to take care of this body. Also, when Abby starts getting more mobile and like, RUNNING AWAY FROM YOU at full tilt toward open doors, that’s when you start doing cardio, whether it was on your list that day or not.
