Back to School
Welcome to the Back to School Blog Style Series! “Metta” from Mommyhood at Thirty, and Tracy from Sweet Harper are teaming up to help get the school year off to a great start. So…let’s break the ice! Just in case you don’t know us, here’s the lowdown…
“Metta” is a mom to Abigail (9 months), and currently teaches high school English. Her favorite part about teaching is making a difference in her students’ lives, not only in their education, but also in their personal lives as she has been teaching in Alternative Education for the past three years. She finds that teaching students life lessons in this setting are sometimes more powerful than English lessons. Though she does heart teaching students the craft of writing.
Tracy is a mom to Jack (4) and Harper (1), and previously taught first grade and full day kindergarten. Her favorite part about teaching was tying shoes every two minutes. Only kidding! Seriously though, Tracy loved that teaching brought a brand new experience everyday, and teaching her students in the great outdoors (the district she taught in had an environmental focus). Her specialty area is pre-primary through 6th grade.
In our opinion, we make a pretty great pair since we can offer tips from elementary through high school. Even if you kiddo is not in school yet, we feel that it’s always good to be prepared. Preparation for the future is what we teach students after all.
Over the month of August, you will get to read a new Back to School Blog Style Post each Monday in which we will be offering advice from how to be a supportive parent to some must haves for your kids to how to successfully work with your child’s teacher. And remember, this is meant to not just be us speaking, but interactive…so comments are welcome!
Monday, August 30th, we’re trying to start a movement…blog hop style. Check it out here.
